A chest film of a 2 10/12 years old girl who had a large VSD and a large PDA. She has never been operated before. Her weight and height were below P3 and symptoms of heart failure were active. She was admitted to prepare a corrective surgery.

This is a good example of pericardial effusion demonstrated by standard technique chest X-Ray. No question, cardiothoracic ratio is much more than normal limit but more than that, notice the globular shape of the heart which is a sign of pericardial effusion detected radiologically.
